27th Annual Graduate Student Association Research Symposium

About the Symposium

The annual GSA Research Symposium is held each year during the spring semester and is an interdisciplinary forum open to all SLU graduate students. This year's symposium will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, on the Genigraphics virtual conference platform. Every department with graduate degree programs is encouraged to participate. Judges are selected from SLU faculty to represent the variety of disciplines. Monetary awards are given to the first, second, and third place papers and posters in each category.

Call for Abstracts

Students may present either a poster or a slide deck. Poster and slide deck presentations will be divided into categories based on the distribution of the participants. The deadline for abstract submissions is April 2, 2021 at 11:59pm.

All abstracts can be submitted here.

You may submit your abstract starting March 3rd, 2021; if the link is not working, copy and paste into your browser to access the submission form. If you are having trouble accessing the form, log into MySLU first, click on Tools, click on Google Drive, then come back to this page and click on our link.

You must submit your abstract electronically. There is no submission fee for abstracts. Poster and slide deck abstracts must be submitted within the guidelines below for consideration and inclusion in the Research Symposium program. Please limit abstracts to no more than 200 words.

Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be sent along with detailed guidelines for poster or paper presentations. A printed program of abstracts will be provided at the symposium.

Guidelines for Submission of Paper and Poster Abstracts

1. Presenters must be graduate students at Saint Louis University. (Faculty members should not be first author or be the main contact.)

2. Students may be first author/presenter on only 1 submission.

3. Abstracts must be titled (in the same way as poster/slide deck presentation).

4. Abstracts must be no more than 200 words. See http://arc.aje.com/make-great-first-impression-6-tips-writing-strong-abstract/ for assistance on developing a succinct abstract.

Accepted Abstracts

For those who will be presenting, please note the following:

  • For those with poster presentations, recommendations for poster dimensions and file type will be provided upon acceptance along with instructions for uploading your poster to the virtual platform.

  • For those with slide deck presentations, further instructions will be provided upon acceptance and a Zoom meeting link will be provided for the day of the symposium.
